πŸ“Š Date Difference Calculator

Find the exact difference between two dates, with optional weekend exclusion.

How to Use the Date Difference Calculator

Select a start date and an end date, and the calculator will instantly show you the difference in total days, business days (weekdays only), weeks, and months. Enable "Exclude weekends" to count only Monday through Friday β€” useful for project planning and work schedules.

Common Uses for Date Difference Calculations

  • Project management β€” Calculate the number of working days between project milestones
  • Employment & contracts β€” Determine the duration of employment, rental agreements, or service periods
  • Event planning β€” Know exactly how many days you have to prepare for an event
  • Legal deadlines β€” Count business days for filing deadlines, notice periods, or response times
  • Travel planning β€” Calculate the length of a trip in days, weeks, or months
  • Academic scheduling β€” Find the number of school days in a semester or term

Total Days vs Business Days

Total days counts every calendar day between the two dates, including weekends and holidays. Business days (also called working days or weekdays) counts only Monday through Friday, excluding Saturday and Sunday. Note that public holidays are not automatically excluded β€” you would need to adjust manually for those.

How the Calculation Works

The calculator finds the absolute difference between the two dates in milliseconds, then converts it into days. For business days, it iterates through each day in the range and counts only weekdays (Monday–Friday). Weeks are calculated as complete 7-day periods, and months are approximated as 30-day periods.
